Elif Shafak is a wonderful writer. I did find myself skimming over some parts where things get a bit overly descriptive, but overall there was enough action to keep things interesting. There is a twist at the end but in my opinion the end was a bit abrupt and rushed for me, but overall I loved reading this book and it was so close to being perfect.

It bounces between years and different character perspectives, which I feel is well done. In some ways we work backwards knowing some of what the outcome is. Because of this I was not expecting the ending.

It’s a solid 4 star book in my opinion

Of all her books, I think this is my favorite.

There are no words to describe how talented Shafak is in weaving a tapestry of stories, characters and clashing cultures.

Considering her Turkish ancestry, the fact that she added a bit of whodunnit - predictable as it was - to the novel, only served as extra flavor.
