I really tried to finish this book, I did. But, it was too damn juvenile for my taste.  I kept waiting for the book to START, but nothing was happening.  Yes, there were lots of action and interesting side characters. It still felt bland. I kept thinking, when will this get good?

Also the way Kevin Hearne writes female characters is unsettling.  I couldn't overlook the misogyny.

While the premise is good, the book left much to be desired.

The main character is my least favorite character, which is fine, as the other characters more than make up for it. I've heard critics imply misogynistic undertones, as all the female characters are hot, but the male characters are also sexy. The humor can be sophomoric, but I don't find it offensive. Irish mythology is underrepresented in popular culture and this book is a fantastic introduction!
