Being a fan of the fantasy/paranormal genre, I decided to get this book as a free Kindle download. I wasn't disappointed either! I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

This tale about an ancient druid sets stage in today's times. A modern druid who just happens to have lived for 2100 years. There is much wit and humor in the writer's tone, especially in the "mindspeak" between the main character, Atticus, and his irish wolfhound, Oberon. There are plenty of familiar ancient gods and goddesses that play great parts to the storyline. Atticus is a powerful druid who is wisely terrified of the many goddesses that toy with him. It's quite amusing!

I really enjoyed Hearne's take on what an urban or modern day druid would be like and how he'd live in today's times. The book is fast paced and not once did I feel like skimming to the "good bits". I read it within 24 hours, not all at once.

Highly recommend this book!

I was not sure what to expect with this book, but I loved it more than I expected. I would die for this dog Oberon. He is worth the book alone. And I am so glad I decided to listen to the audio version so I could hear the amazing narrator give this amazing canine a voice. I go around constantly quoting Oberon to my friends.

I can’t wait to see where this series takes me…

(It is a light and fun read, nothing complex…just what I need to balance out other reading.)

Entertaining, suspenseful, engaging, and laugh-out-loud funny. A neat mix of fantasy, suspense, and humor... And Oberon the dog is simply spectacular! I look forward to enjoying the rest of this series!

This book was fun. Irreverent, sarcastic, and full of mythology. Loved it.

DNF

"'You kissed three goddesses, that means you owe like three hundred french poodles'

[Next chapter starts]
As a male citizen of this country-"

And that's when I turned off the audiobook.

I probably would have turned it off sooner if it wasn't for the delightfully goofy voice the narrator gave the talking dog.
This book is an interesting idea, what if characters from many different myth and legends ...but in a city in Arizona?? I was able to tolerate the Gary Stew main character because he was actually kinda funny. And I loved the dog. But they make a point of saying every woman wants to jump his bones. Even the elderly Irish woman down the street. The only one who doesn't is chastised by another woman for being bratty and rude. How dare she be rude! Shouldn't she be trying to fuck him instead?
Oh well, most of jokes were fun and until they weren't. On to the next

I really enjoyed this audio book. I've found out the hard way that some books just aren't easy to follow while driving but this one is easy to follow, humorous and fun! The narrator is perfect for the character of Atticus and he does good voices for some of the other characters too. This isn't high fantasy, so don't expect Lord of the Rings, but it's a charming story with lots of humor and fun characters. It filled my 8 hour drive from San Francisco to San Diego with entertainment.

YA /NA for those who loved Percy Jackson series. Felt like reading a video game - naked women, fights, blood...
Would try second book.
