I think it would've been better executed as a comic or graphic novel. The art is beautiful, but there was a lot of time focused on explaining the wrong things. I wanted to know about the different races and some of the scientific terms and dialects way before I got an explanation. There were also too many characters crammed into such a short book. I'd love to see each story fleshed out and polished so I'm not left so lost.

I got lost quite often, but I think it would make more sense when we read the sequels and then reread this. It kind of felt like I had missed the primer that would help me read it with a better understanding of what was happening. There were a lot of characters that were hard to track as well as a lot of knew words, speech patterns, and places that weren't explained that made it a little confusing. I did appreciate the new world that was created and some of the social justice pitfalls that were alluded to.
