It was an okay read compared to Dan Brown's other works. It has the same adventure element with minor twists that add to a major twist at the end. However in this one, I wasn't as surprised by the ending as I hoped to be. And there was a lot more explaining of concepts I personally didn't fully grasp that made it a little harder to follow. Same Dr. Langdon though, which alis always a pleasure :). The characters were fantastic.

I was delighted to pick up Dan Brown’s novel where this was the topic covered in this book. Personally, I have never read any of his books before but through mouth publicity I heard his name couple of times in bestsellers chart.

This is my first novel from Dan Brown. I always heard his name being mentioned everywhere so I thought of giving it a try. Personally, it’s very much an intellectual adventure at he beginning I felt hooked to the book the growing tension between the characters. His book has all the descriptions of his Langdon series; vivid locations, historical tie-ins and a mad dash to the final reveal when we learn the secret Langdon has been chasing. Origin has all of that in typical Brown fashion, however, for me the reveal (and there are two in this book) was overdrawn and fell flat. I put down the book with a sense of “that’s it?” disappointment. At the end there were mixed feelings of not satisfying and also the issue getting resolved.

MY RECOMMENDATION

I would recommend this book to those people who seek thriller adventures and and intellectual writings. It has some funny parts and some beautiful descriptions regarding historical architecture and advanced science.

10/3/2017... hardcover release day. My Robert Langdon #5 left the Amazon facility in Kent at 3am today after being pre-ordered 5 months ago, and after waiting for 4 years after reading his last book (Inferno). Dan Brown is possibly the only author who I will read in hardcover. Over 18 hours of reading coming up (105 chapters, 480 pages); this book is a welcome reprieve from current world events. I read the Prologue online (which mentions Kabbalah) and anxiously await 7pm when I will finally get home to check my mail tonight.

10/17.... Finished and happy. Would give it 4.5 stars if possible. Lots of food for thought.

Not uninteresting, but a bit too contrived.

Although the premise was promising, the ending was predictable.
The central theme was about what as a species we should be worried about, but somehow just didn't connect with me.
Not the best of Brown in my opinion.

Informative, suspenseful and insightful. A fresh take on the science vs religion debate.
