This was a bittersweet read for me as Mariposa is a world that I have been itching to visit since first meeting Christopher in book 1 however this story followed the structure of the full-length books set in the portal worlds which makes me think that the only other glimpse we may get of Mariposa will be
Spoilerwhen Christopher returns to his Skeleton Girl.

Despite being short, this story did a good job of truly bringing the world to life and it was exactly the world of the cheery dead that had been previously described.

A very solid story and I hope Christopher does get his happy ending.

It showed the story of how Christopher got to the Home in a nice short and sweet way. I loved that the skeletons were once human but forgot after too many generations. Although I do feel the short stories often lack some of the flourishes that the novellas have. As if written by a different all-knowing narrator than the main series.
