I'll admit that for the first half of this book, I was bored.

Watching Lindsay and Valentine trying to cope after a breakup annoyed the hell out of me. In fact, I only really liked the ending even though I wasn't really rooting for these two even in the first book. They were a toxic clash of two very terrible but unbelievably funny and likable characters.

Spoiler What I liked the most was the Valentine's reconciliation with his family and honestly understanding how he really felt about Olly. He matured really well as a character at 26 instead of remaining that ridiculously impulsive and easily angered snivel-ling 19 year old. Lindsay didn't feel like he changed much to me but he did become a bit humbled after getting fucked over a little during his travels. But damn, dude seriously did a lot of drugs though.

In the end, it felt like they really deserves each other since they were much more matured.

I found this 2nd book a bit more challenging. It was a short read, and i zipped through it in a couple of hours. I really got a sick feeling reading about how Valentine and Lindsay both felt to peices without each other. I'm surprised how it upset me! Old romantic that I am! This book didn't have the elements I liked from the first book- the laughs and tenderness, but I liked the ending!

Oh my goodness these twisted brats I love them so much!!! Pip's diary entry just about broke me. And that email he wrote for Lindsay I'm gonna die!!!! Important to note Pip's parents' character development is so commendable like wow kudos to them.

I love this journey for them together separately (does that even make sense). They had to grow up away from each other, that was a necessity, but the universe will always make sure they find their way back. I agree with Pip on this, their meeting was not purely coincidental. They're meant to be crazy together. Dread it, run from it, destiny arrives the same. (Hell, that's cheesy)

Just please be happy from here on out I beg of you!!!

2020 reread:
Fuck this one was painful to read. Heartbreaking watching them live half lives. Think that's why I gave it 3 stars in 2013, because it hurt! But it's so good. Upping my rating.

4.5 stars

Again I LOVED this book, and it really should be a five star read again but I hated so much that Lindsay & Pip were apart for so long so I'm dropping half a star, so its 4.5 stars. This was a hard read for me, it wasn't fair they were apart for so long even though I knew they NEEDED to be apart. And I actually cringed at some of the stupidity Lindsay got up to. But I am so glad that when they did come back together, whilst things may not have been perfect, they were still right. I don't even know what I want from the final instalment of this trilogy but I am very much looking forward to it.
