A very fun and interesting short story collection that also acts as a kind of primer on Mexican mysticism and magic.

It was nice to read something outside of my usual wheelhouse. I even learned a new term (tropigoth) used to describe this short story collection. It felt like immersing myself in another world for 240 pages. There were a few times where I felt like I had missed a trick though, so perhaps a tighter edit was needed. The closing novella is quite a page-turner. If you enjoy poetic language and magical realism this collection is probably for you.

“Did you know the earth holds its muscles in excruciating stillness for you? It does, and it asks for very little in return.” (DRC, 38%)

Guhhhhh this collection tore me open. More detailed review to come when I can put words together properly.
