I understand why the author chose to have a child as her main character, especially after reading the afterword, but it made me be less into the book personally. It also took me a loooong time to get into the story, but I read quickly the last 1/3. Even if it wasn't fully for me, this book is really important and sheds light on things we don't hear enough of!

This book was a roller coaster of feeling. It starts of with Jai and his friends looking for children gone missing, very innocent and gives a great view from his eyes on living in his basti (like a slum district in their town). It starts like a kids detective story and leaves you on the last page with  heavy heart and insight.

This was a good story but I have to confess I had a hard time with it, largely because of the foreign words and names. But the story was good (sad) and well told.

A challenging and difficult read in many ways but gives an insight into lives I have no experience of.

Lovely, fun and heartbreaking story of kids living in the slums of India. Lovely for how vividly the characters and settings are drawn. Fun for the child perspective yet heartbreaking for the same reason.
