Just getting over sobbing over this book. My eyes feel heavy from crying, but my heart feels so full ♡ I did not expect to fall in love with both Achilles and Patroclus and their story.

I've loved Greek mythology ever since I was a kid, but I'll admit Achilles was never a character I had much interest in. Any relevant information was briefly learned in high school ages ago. I had a vague idea of what the ending of this story might look like and was still taken by surprise.

Thank you, Madeline Miller, for bringing back this old love of mine. I am eager to continue reading your works and have been inspired to continue reading more related mythology books.

I can confidently say this is my favorite book I have ever read. The writing is beautiful and I love the way the story is told. The author does not linger on details and this keeps the story fast paced and moving. It’s so easy to get sucked into this book. It’s gut wrenching and teaches a valuable lesson about love, life and power.

This is an absolute must read. You will most likely cry but I guarantee you will love it.

Easiest the greatest book I ever read. Such a beautiful retelling of Achilles through the eyes of a queer love story. Even though I knew “historically” what would happen to our protagonists I cried so incredibly hard. Some of the most beautifully written passages I think of on a weekly basis come from this book. I would recognize him in death? Come on
