The pandemic happened a year ago so with a bit of history and their current stop, you get a feel for how desolate life is. Kyle and Tobin have their own little unit but meeting others is a risky business, usually resulting in theft at the least.
When they are kidnapped, the worst is assumed but actually the Christmas spirit does remain.
