Funnily enough it didn’t take me thirty seconds to read this book, in fact it took me over two months to fit it between school and sleep and other such events. Yet this book is certainly fantastic and gripping and arguably the best war related book I’ve read. The time span and the characters and the influence of this book I think will haunt me for, well, ever. I’m a mess, in tears, it was such a beautiful ending. Perhaps not so beautiful for many characters but it was well deserved and fortunate for Marie-Laure. It’s hard to convey the poignancy of this novel. The small effect one event can have, the connections between simple events. Just wow. I really questioned things from this novel, it really made me think. I’m still buzzing with questions! Questions about choices and moralities and quite honestly Mandy of Werner’s questions resounded in my mind too. The resolve of Marie-Laure however shall keep me going.

I'm the minority here, but this book just didn't live up to the hype for me. Individually I loved the characters, and they are what's pushing this to 3 stars for me. The plot just fell flat for me. It wasn't very gripping and it felt dragged out through at least half.
