This book was beautifully written at times. The plot dragged and I’m not sure how it won a Pulitzer.

And by the end it has you sympathizing with a damn Nazi which had me feeling very uncomfortable.

Don’t read unless you like historical war fiction.

I did like this book, but it was a slow read, and I struggled with how I felt about one of the main characters. I didn’t like what he was doing but at the same time, I knew he had no choice, and ultimately was very sad at what ended up happening. It’s not often that a book can shock me, and this one SHOOK me at the ending. Overall, I liked it but I wouldn’t reread and I wish it would have had an underlying subplot to make it more interesting.

Truly emotional read. Plot highlighted the true horror of WW2 but also the unity of people in the resistance. I loved Marie and her character arc and her family members. Also think that the disability representation in this book was well done. Enjoyed the switching of POV and how the two plots came together towards the end of the book. Will be thinking about the ending for a long time!

Finally finished this book after a while. It took me forever to read mainly because when I would set it down, I would not pick it back up again after a while. Although, when I would pick it up, I would find the book hard to put down. This book definitely captivated me and had me hooked throughout the entire thing. One of my favorites, if not my number one. I would recommend this to anyone, no matter your interests.
