This was a stunning conclusion to this Scandi noir trilogy told backwards. (Though I secretly hold out hope he'll write at least one more showing Hulda at the beginning of her career)
I love how Ragnar Jonasson wove together all the threads in this story and had me in my feelings ;____; He had me flip-flopping on who I was rooting for and I ended up just feeling so sad for everybody involved by the end.
And the way it ends just has me wanting to reread it in reverse order!

This is the third book in the Hulda series, but the events in it are the start of the story. I’ve been so enraptured by this trilogy, I read all three books in less than a week!
Another great mystery to untangle with its many threads. I really enjoyed all the details. Such a clever plot.

The Must by Ragnar Jonasson
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Just before Christmas, in the remotest farm in Iceland, Ella and Einar are startled by a knock at their door in the middle of winter with a storm quickly approaching. They find a stranger at the door. Two months later, detective Hilda gets a call about multiple bodies found at a remote farmhouse. What will she find?
I love a good Icelandic mystery as much as I love my ocean stories! No disappointment with this book either. A multiple timeline story that sucked me right in and was finished in a day. This was book three in a series and has left me wondering what occurred in the first two even though this could easily be read as a standalone.
