I liked this a little less than I thought I would... maybe I'm starting to feel that when I read a Guillory book, I am watching her do what she does every time? And she's very good at what she does, but still.... I sometimes wish the characters in this were a little less well-adjusted about claiming their feelings and communicating. Yes, there are some moments of conflict, but they get cleaned up so easily every single time, in the romance, in the friendships, in the family relationships. I mean, that's very nice and everything, I still feel that people and relationships are messier than this. This is set in a California winery, which wasn't an especially appealing setting for me. This was a light, enjoyable read and I can always count on Guillory for that. I have enjoyed other books of hers more.

This is a review that I have not been looking forward to writing. I have always shouted about my love for Jasmine Guillory books, and while that hasn't changed I had a really hard time with this one. I was so into it in the beginning; I thought the premise was fun, and I really thought that Margo and Luke had great chemistry when they first met, but somewhere along the way it fell flat for me. I love the fact that this takes place in wine country, and I really like the side characters.  I did appreciate the discussion about racism in the workplace, and loved that while it wasn't her first choice Margo was a great business owner and just like all of her other books this one was heavy on the food talk. I think one thing that bugged me a lot was that about halfway through I still didn't really have a clear idea of what either Luke or Margo looked like other than the fact that they were described as Black. I'm sure it is a me thing but I really like to imagine what the character looks like and I had nothing. I also didn't love the fact that this one was very repetitive, and there was sooooo much mis/non communication. Luke spent almost the entire book lying to his mom about why he was back in his home town and who he was dating. With all of that said even though it was not my favorite I would still recommend it to anyone who doesn't necessarily care if the characters are described in detail, and if you are looking for something with a fun setting and a quick read. I would especially recommend it t0 someone is just getting into the genre.

Another fun one from Jasmine Guillory! This is definitely an airplane/vacation/beach read. The characters are pretty predictable but enjoyable overall. Some of the 'conflicts' are pretty thin and some could have been fleshed out more thoroughly, but I don't expect in-depth analysis from my romance reads.  If you want something light and entertaining, check this out.
