This is YA and I should know I don't love YA (or very rarely). Too much angst and too little progress. I can't give more without spoilers but don't go in this for the scif dystopian aspect or you will be disappointed.

*My star number review is based solely on enjoyment.

this was kind of exhausting. i never really felt like the plot mattered even though some of the scenarios were literally life or death. i enjoyed the character writing and that was mostly what pulled me through to the end. i know it was supposed to be a hopeful ending but i didn't really feel that.

the writing was pretty compelling. i mostly read this in 100 page burst without really getting bored. i just didn't connect with the plot.

this might just be that the book is british and i'm american but i felt like there were some grammar errors throughout that made me stop and go hmm.

I've seen this book described as The 100 meets Becky Chambers and yes, that rings true.  It's slice of life with philosophical discussions in space.  The characters are so flawed and so loveable.  I missed them when it was over and I still miss them now.

Also, this book is really, really long and has very little plot.

So, if you're ready to journey through space with some highly intelligent (almost to their detriment) young adults who are working through their own moral dilemmas while also working to solve humanity's greatest downfall, buckle up and hop on board.

Reading recommendations: time, a cozy seat, and a warm blanket with a cuppa.

So good throughout the whole thing. The characters are SO unique and creative, there are some kind of challenging things that happen but it's written soooo well. Ending was unexpected but tied in really well
