I think I would have LOVED this if I'd read it when I was 14 and in my peak Fantasy years. As it is, a an enjoyable but confusing read.

Why did I wait so long?! This was a brilliant read, a brand new world for me to completely fall in love with.
I thought the magic system was fascinating . I am irrevocably in love with Mogget, what is it about sassy cats?! I cannot wait to continue this series. Nix is a world building genius!!

This book still holds up after the 10+ years since I first read it.

This is one of those books I’d been recommended repeatedly and when I saw Tim Curry did the audiobook, I decided to try it.
I really enjoyed it! Not sure how much is due to the amazing Tim Curry, but it was engaging from the start, pretty fast paced, had a unique premise and magic system, and honestly had me choked up at times. And the ending action was really crazy. That being said, I feel like the characterizations were fairly surface level. I liked Sabriel and Touchstone and Mogget, but I wanted to dig deeper into their characters. Maybe we’ll get more in the next books?
Either way, I’m glad I read it!

I would’ve been absolutely insufferable if I read this as a kid. This was such a lush, unexpected read and I’m looking forward to the rest of the series.

Was listening but not paying attention. Wasn't grabbing me. Tim curry also doesn't inspire me as a narrator
