I picked up this book after reading The Gender Games by Bella Forrest. It's another of my favorite Genre in Dystopian Fiction. A young adult series that fits in well with The Hunger Games, Divergent and even Hugh Howeys Wool and Silo Series. I actually like this series better than Bella's Gender Games, I blazed through Book one in a couple days, well worth the read!

So I really loved this book! I after reading The Gender Game, I was extremely disappointed with the hype that Forrest has been given as a writer and this novel just redeemed my opinion on the author completely.

I fell in love with the characters, especially Liana and Grey; they clung to my heart like a powerful novel always does to me with the protagonists and even the smaller characters I adored; there was definitely the depth within this novel that I felt was missing in The Gender Game and I will definitely be continuing this series to see what happens next! The concept, especially with the growth of AIs is so realistic and haunting to see and I really just can’t wait to pick up on what will happen next for the group.

In a world where you’re ranked from 1-10 on how productive and positive you are, how helpful this makes to society, thinking about how unfair the system is a sure way to get a low score.

Liana is from a family of 10’s, but so far has been struggling to keep up. While on duty, she watches as a 1 miraculously turns into a 10 and is caught up in the underworld of the tower, where she finds it’s not only her that’s figured out the tower isn’t quite what it seems. Meanwhile, The AI who controls it all, Scipico, is becoming more and more dangerous.

The characters are brilliant, complex and loveable, and the pacing keeps you interested while not going too fast that it gets confusing. Bella sets the scene of the tower so well and slowly reveals its backstory as well.

Definitely much better than your average dystopian YA novel.

This is quite a unique story, excellently written at times, but I didn't really care for the characters and the MC was, for me, rather dull. Yeah, I get that she stood up against all that AI and stuff, but that was basically her character - I refuse to fit here, let's get out. So, 3.5 stars total, but I'll mark it as 4, for the sake of the writing and the idea.

Hmmm I’m finding that my reviews are not saved if I don’t mark “finished” and then review it.

This was one of my first audible forays into YA dystopian fiction. I enjoyed the story in book one, the romance was annoying (just FYI I’m NOT a fan of books that describe kisses and desire etc, they can just leave all of that out if you ask me) and rather unrealistic, but not too bad. However in book 2 and 3 the romance gets worse, and the story seems to go nowhere. I finally returned the three books I had in the series after I realized there are WAY better books on audible.
