Such a great family read by Morgan again! All of the sisters' storylines were intriguing and emotional in their own ways and I loved spending a few Christmas-y days listening to them 🫢🏻 Can really recommend the audiobook for the full Scotland experience πŸ˜‰

I wondered at first if this would edge into super cheesy territory (and there's nothing wrong with that, especially at Christmas). But, as I'm learning to expect from Sarah Morgan's books, there's also a healthy dose of drama and tragedy to help with the emotional investment that helps me really root for a story and its characters.

I liked the set up and the way we're drip-fed the McBride family history as events progress. The characters are all basically decent people but struggling with their own flaws, particularly in the distance between Posy, Beth and Hannah. I also loved the setting; there's the contrast between bustling New York and the sleepy Highland town where snow blankets the countryside and everyone knows everyone's business. Of course it also had that cheesy festive feel, but it wasn't so saccharine that I couldn't get involved.

And I was pleased with the ending, which had plenty of happy-ever-after but with every character's life going in a slightly different direction to what they expected. Whether for better or worse is left up to the imagination, and while it's obvious in some cases I liked the idea that this story was just part of the adventure.
