Officially licensed fan fiction, revered by fans. If this is among the best, I'd hate to see the worst...

This book was mostly very enjoyable. I liked the exploration of the nature of the dark side, and Bane’s conflict with his rivals is compelling. One element I didn’t like is an event later in the book when Bane is in serious danger and survives by an act that made me stop sympathizing with him as an antihero and instead think of him as a monster. I suppose the author intended something along these lines, but it made me less inclined to root for Bane. I also found some of the feats completely untrained force-sensitive individuals were able to achieve (especially in the epilogue) to be inconsistent with the original films’ portrayal of the force. Nonetheless, overall a very enjoyable story.

Really great story. Loved see the Dark side of the force and what it holds. Darth Banes story was great. But after reading this I feel like I should have read Darth revan first oh well. There was a little history I didn't understand. I think I will continue was this series.

I really enjoyed this story and the origin for Darth Bane. I found it to be quite an engaging and fun read. The last half of the book was especially great with the great battles between with Sith and Jedi on Ruusaan. Highly recommend to any Star Wars fan.

The writing was good, and I was pretty much hooked throughout the whole story. The problem I had with this story is all the talk of power and destruction.....I know it may be wrong of me to point this out but it felt very targeted for boys....I also had a problem with Dessel's looks, oh man, I sound so shallow.....I guess this just wasn't for me. But the writing is awesome and learning about the sith was cool too.
