I really enjoyed this book. Historical fiction, love story during WW1 told by Greek Gods. It's wasn't a page turner for me, but a perfect leisurely read.

I loved this book more than I expected. It wasn't as sad as I was expecting, but this is a book about war and war is always tragic.

LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. I regret audio-booking this one and I definitely plan to go back and read it as a hard copy too. Such a unique and interesting way to spin the historical fiction genre. I had no idea what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised.

Oh man. I don’t know what to say or where to begin so I’ll keep it short. This book simultaneously broke my heart and pulled at my heartstrings. It’s beautiful, it’s heartbreaking, it’s frustrating, and it’s hopeful. I loved it.

Exactly what I needed to read!
Having just finished a series, I was unsure what to read next, but I found this gem at a little library in my neighborhood! Anyway, the actual book.
It was unique, gorgeous, sweet, tragic, epic, awful, and of course, lovely.
Starting with the narration by the freaking gods of Olympus! What? I bet you weren't expecting that! Neither was I, but I loved it. Having the story told by outside immortal beings added a whole new facet to an otherwise great, but more typical war drama. This way, it made me think deeper about life and the good and bad.
It also made me feel, which is important because I sometimes have trouble connecting to a story in that strong emotional way. I'm still attached to the four main characters, who were diverse and human, and had great development throughout the story. The plot was thick and perfectly paced, I was never bored with the story and I never felt rushed through it either.
Stylistic details were great too- the chapters were laid out and organized so that the story flowed smoothly, different narrators for different sections helped color the story, and I loved everything about the cover!
5 starts, sucked me in completely and I loved it sooooo much! Definitely would recommend.
