I’m being generous with my rating because I absolutely loved the illustrations and the setting. Anything set by the ocean is sure to give me all the feels and this was no exception. I also love that while it was a paranormal mystery it also showed 2 best friends growing up, and starting to like boys! I loved that Samatha’s parents were involved and kept her accountable but also allowed her to be a free spirit at the same time. I enjoyed the notebook entries too. Very Harriet the Spy if you ask me. While it’s definitely a quick story and nothing mind blowing happened it felt very nostalgic of warm summer days bopping around town and at the beach with a best friend.

This this is SUCH a cute, fun summer-y middle grade read about two tweens saving a special place in their small beach town. Sam and Jade are precious- they giggle about boys, surf and explore, and delight in the little things. I’ll definitely be checking out the other graphic novels in this series!

Inoffensive. Felt a lot like Nancy Drew, except for maybe a bit younger audience. I'm very much not in the intended audience for it, though. This would probably be perfect for a tween/early teen girl.

Adorable little mystery graphic novel. I loved the colorful illustrations and the fun story. It was refreshing to see a story where the characters admit when they did something stupid (like swimming alone in the ocean) This is a great book for middle grade readers or reluctant readers. There are enough complex words in there to keep the reader thinking. This is something I would totally add to my collection.

I caught a science-focused Volume of this series a while back as a Hoopla Bonus Borrow and fell in love with the artist’s style. The water color is beautiful and the attention to detail is amazing. The story itself is adorable and adventurous.

When Sam is swimming she finds a secret underground cave and a group of ghosts who try to convince her she needs to protect their land from the resort the mayor wants to build. But Sam's not sure why the land is so important or if the ghosts are even real but with the help of her best friend Jade they just might solve this mystery.

This is a really sweet graphic novel, the mystery isn't too spooky or intense and the drawings are lovely. The characters are best friends and it shows. Would recommend to anyone looking for a fun middle grade graphic novel
