I could not put this book down! I loved it and was very sad to see it end. Don’t read this book on an empty stomach!

This just didn't live up to the hype. I was bored halfway through and felt little empathy for Tess and her life. Is this a sign I'm done with coming of age stories in NYC? Have I read too many kitchen memoirs and pieces of fiction? I don't think so, but this was a snooze. I finished because I'm not a quitter, but I was surely disappointed. And to compare this to Kitchen Confidential? That's a disservice to Bourdain and his work.

Honestly very minimal plot and you weirdly learn very little about the main character, Tessa, but I found it to be engaging. Tessa is enthralled with her coworkers at the upscale restaurant she works at and relies on the restaurant as an anchor as she begins adulthood in New York City

really like the messiness of it all but was kind of overwritten
