Wooooooow. I don't usually love cliffhangers (I'm not really against them either) but this book ended in the perfect spot for me. I'm glad the second book is out, I've already gotten it on KU, and while I probably won't just start reading it right now that's only really because it's 11pm and I'd rather space it out with a few books so I don't end up in a slump after I finish the series by flying through it in one go.

I liked seeing this connect to other series and I put it off because Ive wanted to read sunset cove for ages, and then there's also Brooke's connecting books with Ace. But I read it anyway and now I'm just like wow I gotta read everything, there goes my no adding to the the rule but whatever!

I wouldn't say it's 100% a five star, I definitely rolled my eyes a few times BUT I really loved the book. I finished it happy and eager for more and honestly that's all I'm looking for.

I admittedly downloaded this because of the rumors of Tate and Logan cameos, but I think Ace and Dylan are my second fave or Ella’s couples. (First place will always and forever been T&L). I loved Ace and Dylan’s banter and chemistry and how tender their love was while also having hot as hell moments. Yum.

This is pure fluff. Two hotties have been admiring one another long before they met.

Dylan is a model. Ace sees a sexy underwear billboard featuring Dylan as he drives to work every day. Sure, he has to drive a little out of his way, but it’s worth it for the eye candy.

Ace is a blockbuster action star. He’s been out for a year, but hasn’t dated for fear that the paparazzi will hound him even more. Dylan has admiring Ace’s work – and his body – for quite some time.

When Dylan gets his first acting gig, he doesn’t expect that it is going to be with his movie mancrush. Just as Ace doesn’t expect one of the bit parts in his latest film to be played by the underwear cutie.

The two develop a relationship on the down low, but it’s soon apparent that it is more than just a fling. How long before they are discovered and the whole world knows?

Biggest complaints – The main characters are a bit too perfect. The ending is too big of a cliffhanger. It almost seems like it should have just continued the story instead of being another book.

3.7 I really enjoyed this read. I mean standard Frank/Blaine random cliffhanger, but since I knew it was coming I was more prepared for it.

Ace is an A-list action star, newly out of the closet, but it wasn’t by choice and he’s still a bit nervous about it. He’s an action star, it’s one thing to be gay in theory, it’s another to show it through photos.

Cut to, Dylan. Dylan is the model Ace has been lusting over via his underwear add on Sunset Blvd. Dylan, who’s lusted over Ace’s movies, now has a bit role in his new film.

It’s instalove without actually being instalove. The both of them are immediately attracted to one another but they flirt for a long time before Ace finally relents and gives into his wants. And they begin dating on the sly, cooking dinner for each other, watching movies at each other’s homes and it’s sweet. Ace realizes he can be vulnerable with Dylan, and Dylan realizes Ace can be just another guy and not hands off movie star. And it works.

It works until the two head to Vegas, a romantic getaway Ace created for Dylan, fully giving himself over through trust. And it’s hot. These two are consistently hot.

In the end, once the two are outed as a couple, Ace had two options. Dylan or no Dylan. Now I have to immediately get to book 2!

There was something niggling me about this book, and I never knew what it was. I didn’t want to put it down, but the story didn’t progress as fast as I felt it could have. They’re also on the honeymoon newness of their relationship, can’t keep their hands off. I’m intrigued to see how they work with the inherent pressure of being in a fishbowl together.

The lead up to the relationship was very well done. I love how the relationship stayed under wraps and that Dylan didn't mind and completely understood what it all meant to Ace. And the last 10% of the book was The. Best. Period. Can't wait to start #2

I am pleasantly surprised by this book!

I was on complete and utter Locke-down.

I was expecting something chessy, maybe cringey and overall 3 stars and below worthy and holy shit, (Vasili, slap them all please) because this book WAS GOOD, REALLY REALLY GOOD.

“Nothing, Daydream. But you better get your sweet ass in the car before I forget my good intentions.”
I walked outside and headed toward the stairs. “Eh, who needs those?”
As Ace pulled the door shut behind himself, he followed, and I heard him call out, “That’s exactly what I was hoping you’d say.”

Yes it brought an extra INSTA to insta love, and it probably has many flaws immune to my rose tinted glasses but I don't care.

Ace got to his feet and slipped his hands into the pockets of his jeans as he looked around the group. Then he let loose a smile so wide and cocky you couldn’t help but be in awe of his confidence. The guy had it in spades.

Ace Locke is FUCKING EVERYTHING and he deserves the damn WORLD AND BEYOND and I fucking LOVEEEEE Dylan. At first, I was bit ehhhh about him, he was fine and okay, but it ended there, HOWEVER the more the book progressed and the WAY. THE DAMN WAY Dylan began to put Ace first, how he treated Ace, how he showed Ace his respect and honesty and just, FUCKIN did things to him that spelled AWE I just.... YES. YES. YES YES YES. YES!!

I laced my fingers with his and squeezed. “And whatever it is you need from me, you can have that too.”

Ace seemed to be a man of contradictions, and, if I had to guess, one at war with himself. It had been so long since I’d been around anyone who wasn’t completely open with who they were that I wasn’t sure what the next step was, or even if there should be a next step. But as I stared at the attractive man in front of me, I knew I wasn’t willing to give up on the promise of something, even if it meant hiding in the shadows and waiting for him to seek me out. Because my gut told me that whatever this was between us wasn’t over yet.

Like their first fucking fight and the way Ace handled it and groved for Dylan, I was sobbing of awe. Like THIS IS HOW you handle a situation that makes me giddy without making me gag of cringey sappiness, people!

“Where do you think you’re going?” I asked.
“Fucking leaving, so move.”
Shaking my head, I said, “No, see, that’s not the way it works. Get pissed at me all you want, but fight it out here and get it off your chest. Don’t go fuming when I’m not around to defend myself.”

Also this → “Little early for business, isn’t it, Logan?” FUCKING SOBBING!!!!!!

Just.. everything. Everything about this book speaks to me. I'm half convinced to rate this 4.5 stars.

Shaking my head, I said, “I asked you first. You want me, Ace?”
Ace bit down on the inside of his bottom lip, and the shy response to my question almost took my breath away. The Ace sitting in front of me was so different from the huge personality on the big screen, or the self-assured one he radiated when others were around. For some reason, the thought hit me that this was the real Ace, the one who seemed almost nervous as he sat mere inches away from me, contemplating how to answer my question.

All I'm gonna say is, this book missed the chance to say: You just got Aced. pun fucking intended.

Ooof to read book 2! Because that cliffhanger literally made me raise my middle finger.

initial reactions
I sigh of relief because I FINALLY finished a book in nearly 3 weeks

I really loved this book. I was able to binge read it because it kept me hooked for basically every page. Dylan and Ace have explosive chemistry, and I love how they held off for a bit of them doing anything because when they finally DID do something, it felt explosive. I love it.

Also, I fucking loved Ace. He was SO sweet and romantic with Dylan once he basically became all in with him, but also liked it rough just as Dylan did when they had sex. I loved the dual sweetness and romance with some rough and scorching chemistry and sex.

There is a scene near the very end where
SpoilerDylan and Ace go to a private sex club thing and have sex so others can see, because Dylan gets off on it. It annoyed me a little at first, but then when it was clear they weren't going to do anything with anyone else, just others looking, I was fine with it. The sex they had then was also pretty hot
.

Obviously this is going to be a series, or at least another book? It ended on a cliffhangery type scene and it said there was another coming out soon, so that's good, because I was left at the end wondering "is that it??" Because there is quite a few plot points introduced that do not get touched upon much, at least not yet, and so it left me unsatisfied, which is why it's a good thing there is going to be more with them so those plot points can be addressed.

I also want them to go to Sunset Cove and for Ace to meet Derek and Jordan and such, and I was expecting that in this novel too. Hopefully it happens in the next, or the one after that if there's gonna be three books in this series.

So far I love the balance of angst - not too much and the few areas of angst are realistic and do not feel manufactured at all. Also, I love how Dylan and Ace work out the few fights they do have, or arguments at the very least, and Ace doesn't let Dylan just walk away, and vice versa, but they don't push when it's needed for the other not to push.

Their relationship is already so wonderful and respectful and they're so in love I'm just like guysss figure it out already!!! I mean, they've already figured out they're in deep with each other, but they still got to get to that "I wan to be with you forever" stage and I can't WAIT to see it, to read more of their wonderful relationship.

This is definitely an amazing, awesome book that should be given a chance. Not only for the hot sex, but for the sweet, adorable romance.
