"The dark side fed on passion and raw emotion, but it was important to temper it with cold analysis and reason."
I enjoyed reading this book, I don't know why people are hating on this book.
I'd reccomend this book to any star wars fan.

This book is comprised of two story lines that eventually converge. The revan storyline was okay, but what I really enjoyed was the sith plotline. It just did an excellent job of filling out the world and society of the Sith.
The hand waving of Bastilla out of any adventures by being oh she's pregnant and has to stay behind to raise their kid. Is just really awful though.

Another great Drew Karpyshyn novel with great character development of the old favorites, and a continuation of Kotors plot!

This was my first foray into the Star Wars literary universe, and I did enjoy the journey. It has always amazed me how much content has been created for that long-ago far-far-away galaxy, and I have to give these Star Wars books credit for being pioneers in fandom and fan fiction in a much more mainstream way than most canons ever achieve.
For me, this book fell short -- maybe not of my expectations, but certainly of my hopes. I wanted so much out of a Star Wars book, and I'll grant you this is the only one I've read (so far), but this one didn't deliver on my desire for a sweeping, emotionally complex Star Wars story. I tend to be more drawn to character-driven stories in general, and this book was definitely more plot- and action-driven. So while it was good, it just wasn't quite my cup of tea in the end.
I'll admit too that from a writing standpoint, I was torn. The actual technical style of the writing was very distracting for me -- all tell and no show. The exposition felt clunky in a lot of ways, and sometimes the limited-third narrator switches bled into omniscience. I also felt that on some occasions when characters made choices, I really didn't follow the logic. They just kind of did stuff and then we were narrated reasons after. That being said, I was completely blind-sided several times in the over-arching plot, which is always a plus in my mind since I don't like to be able to predict a storyline.
One of the things I thoroughly enjoyed about this book (and there were a few) was the way it viewed The Force through the characters' lenses. Each force-sensitive character has a unique relationship with and view of The Force, and draws on it in different ways. The insights into the subtly distinct worldviews of Jedi vs. Sith when it came to Force interaction were genuinely awesome, and several of Revan's Jedi-bent thoughts regarding emotions hit very close to home for me.
Overall, I enjoyed this experience. I'm unsure whether I'll continue, either in this specific timeline or into an adjacent Star Wars book space, even though this one did end on what could be considered a soft cliffhanger. But if the mood strikes or if another Star Wars book comes highly recommended, I'm certainly open to the idea.
