Finished listening to White Horse - Generational Trauma meets Adult Angst meets Spiritual Healing 🏠🔥✨ My first horror fiction read ever. Definitely want to explore the genre more!

This is the ultimate, I liked it well enough but nothing special about it book. Despite it being marketed as horror, it was about as horrific as I expected it to be which is not horrific at all. Just because a thriller has a supernatural element to it, does not make it horror in my opinion but maybe I am wrong. The main character was fine. I found nothing wrong with her but never really came to care about her quest to find out what happened to her mother. Her love of Dave Mustaine was funny to me and I liked the King references in the book. It's a debut. It's solid for a debut. Just nothing too special for me personally.

Kari's days are the same. She works at two bars and leaves to drink at a third, her favorite, The White Horse. Why doesn't  she just buy the damn thing, her best friend Debby asks, for all the time she spends there?! Oh, also, Debby has a mysterious gift from Kari's long-gone mother. When she takes it in hand, Kari's predictable life will change for sure.  What follows is a story about loss, grief, triumph, generational trauma and how culture and traditions claw their way out of our histories and in to our waking lives. This is a MUST READ!
