the person i was when i picked up this book on friday night is no longer alive. he had no idea his knees would buckle because of this book. he didn’t know his chest would be tight. that his heart would give out. that he would be unable to form coherent thought. reading the book again wouldn’t be enough. i need the words, the yearning, the magic, injected into my veins. you may think i’m being dramatic. i am not. thus is the power of olivie blake

Felt quite long and drawn out.
Allusions to Romeo + Juliet were clearly there from start to finish…the drama and insta love

An interesting little read. Blake's prose is super flowery, and my ADHD has a hard time staying focused, but it was good.

5⭐️ ROMEO & JULIET RETELLING, FANTASY, RIVAL FAMILIES, MODERN DAY

WHAT BEAUTIFUL WRITING 🤤🤤
I was not expecting to like a Romeo & Juliet retelling as much as I did. This story follows two rival families that have a running history of bad blood between them. You’re not just following along with one love story, but two. As well as familial relationships and loyalties. Olivie Blake starts the story off strong and keeps with that same momentum throughout.
The turn of events truly had me guessing what was coming next for all the characters. Overall, it was such an emotionally strong story that had you rooting for both families as well as holding back tears. But the best part - the ending 🥺
