I really enjoyed this reverse whodunnit. Glad we got POVs from both sides. It was nice to enjoy a thriller that didn’t include a shocking twist and not be bored with it half way through. Excited to read more about Ben in the next.

The main character is a dream! I cannot wait for the next in this series.
After the loss of his boyfriend, Ben moves to quiet town Sandy Lake - the town his family vacationed at the family lake house. Until the disappearance, assumed dead, of his older brother, Nick.
Ben assumes the role of Sherriff, a temporary role likely to become permanent as the Sheriff battles colon cancer.
Two teenagers are caught entering Emmett Burr's house - he kills one, keeps the other. Desperate attempt to hide years of secrets, Emmett keeps a low profile.
Ben struggles to find any clues - until they start leading to the very wealthy, well known local family.
Loved the representation, living as a gay man in the police, hiding his sexuality and personal life.

When I saw the cover of this book, I KNEW it was a must read for me! I didn’t even glance at the synopsis and wow I did not see what this book was going to be about at all!!

First: You know exactly who “he is” and “where he kept her”
Second: We know who she was, and who she is now!

I enjoyed the new hot queer police chief on the scene and it being a small town and all, the author does a terrific job at making the townies comical.

Creepy, dark and twisted and I am hopeful there will be a part 2, because I need more please!!

Thank you for the gifted copy.

This might work better as a read, but maybe not based on some of the reviews? I listened to this on audio during my commute and it wasn't very engaging. I'm mostly disappointed because the audio book felt like it abruptly ended one day and I didn't get a conclusion. I thought it was a glitch on my phone only to find that I must have tuned out the last part of the book. I could have re-listened but decided not to. If I try again I'll read it instead.
