This novel follows three sisters who are orphaned at a young age and left in the « care » of a neglectful uncle. These three young Muslim girls grow up in the USA and have very different lives. The story is told from the point of view of the youngest, starting with what a small child understands from the world and gaining wisdom and understanding, allowing us to finally get a grasp of what’s going on in this family.

This is pretty sad. Felt a bit disjointed at times and dragged a little in some places. But overall was nicely written.

Beautifully written with interesting appreciates to language — hard read about neglect, mental illness, abuse.
