I want to review this as thoroughly as possible but I also don’t want to give any spoilers. Once you’ve read the book (which I urge you to do!) you’ll probably see why that could be tricky.
This is a thriller, but it’s fuelled with intrigue, injustice, hope and grit. It touches on some emotive topics like the justice system and forgiveness which I found really well balanced.
The central character is a nanny, with an ordinary life. And though the events seem far from normal, they are so rooted in reality that at times I felt like I was reading true. Time.
“Not another thriller Mary” is what I thought when I decided this was my next read. I expected the same pace, story progression and characterisation that I’ve become so comfortable with in this genre. Being the first book I’ve read from the author I wasn’t sure what to expect.
Not only is it exceptionally well written, but the story is thoughtfully crafted - with sub plots not taking over but still been giving just enough detail.
I know I’ll think about this book for a long time, and that’s why it deserves five stars.
