I will start by saying that this book is clearly not for me. It was written by a Jewish writer about his experiences living in the legacy of the Holocaust and seems to be intended for those in a similar position. That is not my cultural background, so I am sure there are nuances in it that I missed. That said, I did not like it. I think it handles suicide way too lightly for a book about suicide, with very little understanding or exploring of the mental state that leads to it. It's just kind of treated as an emotionless equation of put in enough trauma, get out a suicide. Also there are a number of real life Jewish Holocaust survivor writers who are brought back to life as some of the Golems, who just become one note comedic background characters in a way I found rather ghoulish (pun slightly intended).
Moderate: Genocide, Suicide, Suicide attempt, and War
