Well written, entertaining. Loved to hear about the clothing and work culture changes as Katie came up.

3.5 (loved the book despite some dislikes)
This was a great audiobook! I loved hearing it in Katie’s voice. She dives deep into nearly every aspect of her life. Great honesty and very thorough (though at times too long). The overlaps of stories in history that she reported on in TV brought a really cool element to the book. I love how she captured how times have changed and continue to change.
It felt like more of a “report” of her life than a book getting to know her. For example, her story about the housekeeper was riveting, but it felt like a news story! We heard everything that happened in that situation thoroughly, but not what that did to her, how she experienced it, and how that’s shaped her moving forward.

4.5-5 I really really enjoyed this! I’m a huge fan of memoirs and Katie’s candidness about herself and others was so interesting! For the record, I don’t understand any of the negative comments about this book at all - must be from people who didn’t read the whole memoir?? If you like Katie, or memoirs, or are interested in journalism, my guess is you’ll love this

Let’s just say, she went there! Katie was honest as she told her story, open to self reflection, & she offered up a lot that people may not have known about her.
I am a big fan of memoirs read by the author, & I enjoy following along as they read. I find their story that much more impactful, & Katie’s was no different. In addition to her reading, there were clips from interviews she did throughout her career, which I found really cool!
I also found it interesting to learn more about woman in a male dominated industry. She spoke about herself, & other women, navigating their environments, witnessing many events, & then speaking honestly about them throughout this book.
This was definitely an eye opening read, & I’m glad I picked it up!
Overall verdict: Heartbreaking, funny, painfully honest. Katie turned over many rocks, & wasn’t afraid to show the truth underneath.
