Personally I would Say this is near the top of my series ranking like top 4. It is a great showcas  of Joseph delaney's ability to create tense, exciting situations.
the scene where pan asks to make a deal with tom is honestly one of the best scenes that has featured one of the old gods since the bane existing!

*Spoiler Alert*
Enjoyed this 8th book in the Spook's series. More battles against the dark for Tom and Alice, the Spook, Grimalkin and the characters they meet along the way.
I particularly liked the part where everyone fought to bind and behead the Fiend. Fantastic detail and made me feel like I was there alongside them.
Great characters, well written and a good plot. Enjoyable instalment.

I've thoroughly enjoyed this series thus far. It seems to be at a tipping point though and I hope it continues to be as enjoyable. This installment had Spook, Tom, and Alice leaving the County and heading for Ireland to escape the war. Tom gets another step closer to fulfilling his mother's prophecy that he'll be the one to bring down the Fiend.

The dynamic between the Spook and Tom Ward is changing and Alice continues to evolve. Their alliance with Grimalkin made for good reading and I look forward to seeing her more often.

I think this installment actually tipped the scales to my preference of The Last Apprentice from...Harry Potter! This book series is VERY dark, and often gory/slightly disturbing, but I love every minute of it! The Fiend has returned again in this book, as Tom and his troop are in Ireland and working with local landowners to defeat the Goat Mages, who are working to bring the god Pan (and general destruction) to the land. The Spook is continuing to age, and Tom is getting stronger. I really enjoy this series because of the vastly different stories/villains in each series. This story was especially interesting, and I recommend it to anybody, but DON'T let this be the first book in the series you read!
