As can be expected of Hilda, this is an adventurous, charming story. I loved it. This volume picks up where the Netflix series has currently left off, and tells an intriguing story about the trolls of the mountains. There is heavy focus on "never taking a mother's love for granted", though, which falls into the trope of "inherent family goodness" I always find suspect in kids books (as the wife of someone with CPTSD From growing up with a terrible family). Like, should a kid who received regular emotional abuse from mom still never take her love for granted? This is far from the main point of the book, but it is something to keep in mind. Otherwise, I absolutely loved it.
Moderate: Death
Guns, also the Troll depictions may be frightening for some kids?
