Maggie wakes up in hospital after being in a coma. She finds out that her beloved daughter Elspeth is dead, drowned in a car accident. Her husband is missing (the police don't seem bothered by this)
Maggie remembers nothing from the day of the accident. She is released from hospital and basically told to get on with her life. She has no money, no family, no one to turn to. How will she even begin to piece together what happened. Could she be responsible for the accident that took her daughter's life?

After the accident is a fast paced thriller. The writing style of the author 'nuala Ellwood keeps you guessing with every page turned.
There are a few surprises along the way which I never saw coming and really enjoyed.
After the accident is a brilliant psychology thriller that has alot of heart pounding moments. I would totally recommend it. Nuala Ellwood knows how to keep the reader on a dollar coaster ride with this book.

This is quite a roller coaster of a story. Maggie wakes up from a coma to the terrible news that her daughter has died in a tragic accident. Overwhelmed with grief and the after effects of her own injuries, she tries to remember what happened on the night of the accident. The story takes some twists and turns and the ending is the biggest twist of all. The writing style is fast paced and I couldn't wait to find out what was going on.

A copy of this novel was given in exchange for an honest review.

This novel is somewhat short and sweet. I would highly recommend it for people who don’t have a lot of time or brain capacity for reading lengthy, complicated novels. This novel follows Maggie after she wakes up from a coma and finds out that her daughter died in an accident that she had a hand in. And her husband? Nowhere to be found.

This novel is one of my most favourite thrillers I’ve read lately because of all the twists and turns. It didn’t matter quite how many times I tried to guess what was going to happen next, I never got it right. Ellwood is a fantastic writer with a creative imagination that really brings Maggie’s troubles to life. I wouldn’t recommend this novel to people who haven’t delved into the world of thriller before because it might set the bar high.

I loved this book!!! At first I wasn't quite sure what was going on and then as the story unfolded things became clearer... I must admit though that I'd not quite got it all worked out until all was revealed. It really was a gripping read...… and I couldn't put it down.

I don't want to give any spoilers away but what I will say is that you definitely need to read this book when it's released next year.

I was lucky to be given an advance digital copy via Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion, and I can honestly say that it was brilliant!!

This novel centres around Maggie, a woman who has woken up in hospital after a car accident to find her daughter is dead and her husband missing. However, because of her loss of memory she has no idea why.

While this was certainly a page turner, there were a few things that let this novel down for me.

I found the plot twist a bit unbelievable - Julia turning out to be her long lost daughter... really? I just found it a bit of a cliche. I had also worked out that the letters weren't written by Elsbeth fairly early on.

I also find when you have a character with memory issues in a novel there is a fine line between building up suspense and just irritating the reader. I, unfortunately, was starting to get irritated by about 2/3's of the way through the story.

The main character, Maggie, was also something of an annoyance in that she was such a wet blanket through the vast majority of the story - something which then makes the reader question at the end of the book whether she would have actually gone to confront Barbara at all in reality. It just seemed very out of character.

Finally, and perhaps the biggest disappointment for me, is that this is just like all the other psychological thrillers out there - there just didn't seem to be anything unique about it.

That said, as I've already mentioned, it was a page turner and the plot line did keep me reading so for this reason it gets somewhere between 2.5 and 3 stars from me.

This book was amazing, so gripping, so perfectly put together and I loved every second of it!

Maggie wakes up in hospital after being in a coma absolutely terrified because she can’t remember a thing. She’s been in an accident, her daughter died and her husband left her. She’s know idea how any of this happened but she’s going to try her hardest to work it out.

It’s written so well that you feel everything Maggie is feeling, it’s hard to read because you so want everything to be okay but you just don’t know if it will be, but that’s also what made me so addicted to it. I did not want to stop reading!

No spoilers but another thing that I adored was how much it plays with your head, I didn’t know what was real and what wasn’t half the time. You couldn’t trust anyone.
I kinda caught on to the end about two thirds in, but I didn’t expect as much as we got at all, it’s was so twisty and shocking and just brilliant!!

Definitely recommend to any thriller lover!

Thank you to netgalley, the author and the publisher for this arc copy to review
