So fucking good

Dude I’m in shock and in tears and impressed and afraid and thrown back to my lowest lows at 15 that I thought were my lowest lows before I learned how much worse and how much better things could be.

Gardens grow salty over the fued in their roots

The pieces I found most compelling in this book are Emails To A Professor In 2011; The World Is Ending And I Have To Tell The World; There Never Was A Hat; 3. Rhyming Dictionary; and May.

This book details a history of struggling to grow up, struggling with mental illness, and loss. It brings light (shadow?) to the reality of this pain.

To me, the poems in this book read as if they were meant for spoken word. I think hearing these poems read out loud would do a lot of good for the experience.

Love Beth May’s work.
Her poetry is gorgeous and catches my attention and holds it more than most poetry i’ve read. She has an excellent mix of crude relatability and devastating vulnerability throughout and it somehow keeps catching me off guard in either direction every time.
