As a romance, it wasn’t the best part about this book to me. It happened too fast in my opinion. My favorite part was Sophie reconnecting with her family and the last 10 pages honestly had me tearing up. It was nice to see Sophie and her dad have peace in the end.

Simple but very cute, and the perfect choice to end my reading slump.

Rustic Hearts is my first book by Amber Kelly and I absolutely fell in LOVE. There are so many wonderful things about this book!

The cover is what first caught my attention because look at it, it's beautiful! Then after reading the brief description I knew this book was perfect for me. If you're looking for small town romance, sexy cowboys and a bit of suspense wrapped up in a love story, then is book is for you! Also, Rustic Hearts is book one of the Poplar Falls series, I'm always a sucker for a several book series with a great family and small town!

Sophie, now in her 30s is headed back to her hometown, Poplar Falls, after being gone for 20 years. My heart broke for her when she returned home to everything appearing the same on the outside of the Rustic Peak Ranch but inside so much had changed from the looks, to the people. One of those new people being Braxton Young, a sexy as sin, brooding cowboy that's been working the family ranch for years. Sophie and Braxton get off to a rough start because of family secrets and misunderstandings but this enemies to lovers story is just the right amount of everything.

As the story unfolded, Amber Kelly did an excellent job making me feel so many emotions; Starting with heartbreak and loss that later progresses to understanding, forgiveness and love.

Along with all the emotions, I LOVED that I was able to picture every setting within the story. I feel Amber Kelly did a fantastic job writing this book and setting the scene. From the rocking chairs and porch swings on the wrap around porch of the four-story white farmhouse to the "boo-hoo" tree that provided the perfect amount of shade in the backyard. That's probably one of my favorite things when reading a book, being able to picture it and feel as if I'm there, it makes the story that much better.

I would 100% recommend this book! I'm looking forward to jumping into book 2, Stone Hearts!

“Time is the one thing we waste more of than anything else.”

This follows Sophia who at the age of 12 in the middle of the night was woken up by her mother to fleeing the ranch and away from her father to move to New York. She is now 32 and a family member has passed away in the place she once called home. It’s been 20 years can the truth of why she left be revealed?

This was just good. I enjoyed the story but the execution of some bits fell flat for me. I also listened to the audiobook and it wasn’t my favourite. Sophia and Braxton didn’t really like each other at first but it didn’t feel like an enemies or grump element to the characters. It was a little back and forth between them so I wasn’t fussed on the relationship growing. Then they kissed and started getting closer. Personally I didn’t feel much for them. Towards the end when you find out why she was taken by her mother the execution of the aftermath was shocking. The mother deserved worse then what happened she took 20 years of her daughters life and her rocking up to the ranch is just strange as well. Worst part was Sophia wanted to go back home and was set to leave then everything came out the MMC didn’t have to lift a finger for her to stay which I thought we would have got.

The main characters relationship wasn’t believable at all. They had so few interactions just the 2 of them. They’re were a few cute lines of dialog but it wasn’t enough for them to establish a relationship. I don’t think they had a single conversation about their feelings until the last chapter. It was so odd.
