I received an e-ARC from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review. Review, blog tour and giveaway can be found on *Milky Way of Books*

This was an exciting and action-packed urban fantasy set in a small town where auras exist and the balance of the world depends on spirits.
Briony has no memory before she was ten. Her mother has disappeared and when her grandmother falls ill, she is sent with her best friend to Firefly Valley. There she meets Alder, who has a deep connection to the valley and the powers hidden within.

I loved Lindsey's writing; it was fast-paced filled with amazing and colorful descriptions and the humor between the scenes made the plot lighter. The romance was slow and sweet too while Briony was brave and dealt with everything like a champ. It could easily be an anime series or an animated one!

This is a sweet little book,I did feel however it dragged a little bit in places, and the over describing made the "by the skin of your teeth" stuff and the adventure lose its charm

Title Glow of the Fireflies

Author Lindsey Duga

Description from Amazon

Briony never planned to go back to the place she lost everything.

Firefly Valley, nestled deep within the Smoky Mountains, is better kept in her past. It’s been six years since an unexplained fire gave Briony amnesia, her mother disappeared, and her dad moved them away.

But now her grandmother needs a caretaker, and Briony’s dad insists she be the one to help. The moment she returns, she feels a magical connection to the valley, as if it’s a part of her somehow.

And when she meets a hot guy named Alder who claims he was her childhood friend but now mysteriously keeps his distance, Briony starts piecing together her missing past…and discovers her mother didn’t leave to start a new life somewhere. She’s trapped in the hidden world within the valley.

Now, Briony will do whatever it takes to rescue her, even if it means standing up against dangerously powerful gods. But when saving her mother comes with the ultimate sacrifice–Alder’s death–how can she choose?

Initial Thoughts

I liked Kiss of the Royal by Lindsey Duga so when I saw this book was coming out, I eagerly applied. Unfortunately, this one got lost in the chaos that was my reading and reviewing schedule for a little while – but, my excitement never waned.

Some Things I Liked

Alder. He was my favorite and I won’t have anyone tell me otherwise. He was so sweet and such a great character to pair with Briony.
“For fox sake.” Best. Quote. Ever. I don’t want to give all the details of why I loved this one (due to profanity

Briony does not remember has loss of memory and scars on her back. Go on a journey with this character to find the truth. This is a new author for me and I did enjoy the book. I was hoping for a little more from this book it was slow in spots for me. Overall, I enjoyed the characters and findings out what happened. The story was good and the journey was nice with characters that made me keep reading. "This book was given to me for free at my request from NetGalley and I provided this voluntary review."

I think this was a cute read. I think it was a super fast read and hard to really feel super connected to the characters. I liked this this book did have main character that did deal wtih anmiesa and also a blast from the past romance and so many secrets along the way. I think world building and characters realtionship and the story balance could have been stronger and easier to follow. It also had a very abrubt ending as well!! but I really did like the nature vibes and would make a great spring read as well!! The characers did read a bit younger to me as well but quick read and woudl read more by this author in the future

Briony is a girl who is looking for closure more than anything else. She is back at the place where she lost everything including her childhood memories. She hopes that she will discover the mystery of her past somewhere in the Firefly Valley. This place holds too many secrets but she is here now and she plans to relive her past as much as she can.
This is a very well-written fantasy novel. I enjoyed every second of it. The story is both intriguing and interesting. It's told in an entertaining way and the characters are amazing. I think that the way the author has introduced her characters is simply brilliant. It has enough twists and turns to keep readers on their toes. I'd definitely recommend it to all fantasy lovers, especially if you like YA novels then this is a must-read for you.
P.S. I received a complimentary copy of this book via NetGalley.

2.5-3 stars. Uhhhh. Hmm. This was weird? I think the premise is very unique but I like this concept better in theory than in execution. Could just be the writing style I didn’t jive with, honestly, but this book really annoyed me in a lot of spots. I also have absolutely now idea how anything worked or what the hell even happened. Also, the main character’s best friend 100% didn’t need to exist in this book. She basically dealt with grandma in the background while the MC did her magical shit and her presence did zero for the plot.

[[I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.]]

this was an adorable book. albeit formulaic... but honestly? sometimes we want that formulaic book to just take us away and keep us from our realistic thoughts. this book was very, very good. a wonderful little escape from reality. and it was just what i was looking for.

i enjoyed the characters, although flawed in some ways. regardless of all of that, they were special in their own ways, and different than each other so there was no confusion. it was very clear who would be doing what, and why they were written in the first place. that was very nice. i also felt as if these characters could be my friends in a way. they were welcoming and fun. no angst whatsoever.

what i loved MOST was the description of everything in this book. i felt as if i were actually there with our characters, living and breathing in the smoky mountains. the description was 5 out of 5 some of the best i have read. thank you for that, ms. duga!

i would absolutely suggest this book to my students to read. i can't wait for it to come out so that we can order it and i can start to do just that!
