*sniffling, wiping tears from my eyes* Fuck, I did not expect to get hit so damn hard in the feels this volume! And I was hit from start to finish! Dammit, this was such a sad yet heartwarming volume. I really loved seeing all of the characters reminisce about their time with Katarina and how important she is to them. Katarina may not be the most well-written, deep female character, but she has a fun and accepting personality that I believe all of them when they say how much she means to them.

I won't say anymore due to spoilers, but the one thing I am concerned about is the cliffhanger ending. I honestly think this would have been a good place to end the series, but clearly that's not happening. I'm hoping it won't drag on too long, but I'm still curious to see where it goes. As of now, I loved this volume and still love this series.

So this volume was emotional. The beginning had my eyes watering and I wanted to cry twice. It was so beautiful to see all the characters talk about how much Katarina means to them. I also liked seeing more of Katarina's past life. The ending was also really funny but it was predictable. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series. I would highly recommend this manga series!

Book Summary:

You know how the story goes. A high school girl wakes up to a new life – quite literally, for she's been reborn as Catarina Claes, a villainess and spoiled daughter of a duke. In other words, a big pain in the butt.

Catarina may be clueless, but that makes her very talented at getting into the center of the biggest problems. For example, she now knows who is behind her friend's disappearance – and she's not going to sit around and wait for someone else to save the day.

My Review:

My Next Life as a Villainess Vol. 4 marks a significant change in the series, at least in my mind. This is the moment where Catarina starts writing her own future instead of just reacting to what is happening around her (read: trying to avoid doom scenes). Technically, she's been doing that the whole time, but this was the first major time she had to go out of her way to do something without thinking of how it may or may not affect her doom.

What I'm trying to say is that I feel like our little Catarina is finally (finally) growing up. A bit. Just a smidge. But it's something! She's still as oblivious as ever, and I love her for it.

This volume showed a different side of the world, where dark magic and more insidious plots can live. We've always known there had to be a darker underbelly – after all; the world is supposed to have a villainess running around, why not others to counter her? It was interesting to see this side of the world, and I'm looking forward to further exploring it (you know it isn't end there).
