Stellar! I loved the first one; the sequel matches the energy and the excellent storytelling framework. I found the second book actually more horrifying, because of the frequent encounters with…well, *people* as humans slowly erode the foxes’ habitat.

Was this good? Yes. Did it have good horror? Yes. Did it feel like the first book? . . . No. I can't find the words to explain why, I just know it was different and didn't hit the same as the original SSFYF.

If Heidicker writes another SSFYF, will I read it? Always.

Perhaps a bit more grim than the first, but I enjoyed it.
