I enjoyed this book even though I felt Dr. Owens was neurotic. She was a very likable character. Susan was likable as well and I was glad that some sort of bond grew between them.

it was great reading about Sam. I have always liked her, but it made me miss Taylor. those two would make a great team (more the cop/doc team)

I've always felt closer to Dr Sam Owens than Lt Taylor Jackson so reading that her story now is one so heartbreakingly tragic because of the loss of her husband & children in the 2010 Nashville Floods was absolutely gut-wrenching. The haunting depression & lingering overwhelming sadness was nearly too much to bear as a reader. Though A Deeper Darkness' story is a crime thriller, it is also a breath taking examination of grief & recovery. Although I'm heart sore for Sam in the loss of her family, I'm hopeful in her recovery of her life. Looking forward to the next one.

I read the next two books in this series before this one and I'm glad. There are some strange leaps and differences that show up between the different books in the series and I like the 2nd and 3rd books better. Each book seems to settle better into the characters.

Unread shelf project 2020: book 11. ✨

A surprisingly good military-related thriller, with many twists and turns that I didn’t expect. Near the end, it was a little confusing with so many twists and turns in so few pages, I think I got whiplash. However, I was also distracted by Governor DeWine’s 4th press conference of the week so ya know, that could’ve played a part in my slight confusion.

A Deeper Darkness is a compelling mystery that provides an in-depth view into the oftentimes unseen toll that war takes on servicemembers and their families. To read my review in its entirety, please visit http://www.bookreviewsandmorebykathy.com/2012/04/24/a-deeper-darkness/

I had read this book years ago, it must have been when it first come out. Not sure why I didn't have it marked read on here! Regardless, it's a great book. Compelling personal story, complicated murder mystery, slight dash of romance.

I really liked this book and it would have gotten 4 starts from me if it wouldn't have been for the end. That just felt rushed and out of place for me.
