I wanted to read this book because I loved The Spanish Love Deception and I love Elena Armas. Man, she knows how to write slow burn love stories with amazing men!

This book has two points of view. The first one is a woman named Rosie Graham. We met her in the Spanish Love Deception – she is Lina’s best friend. Well, she has a few problems. She has just quit her well paid job to focus on her secret career as a romance writer. She hasn’t told her family and now she has writer’s block. Then the ceiling of her New York apartment literally crumbles on her. Lucky for her, Lina is out of town and Rosie has her spare key. What Rosie doesn’t know is that Lina has already lent her apartment to her cousin Lucas, who Rosie has been stalking on Instagram for the last few months. Lucas seems intent on being her Spanish knight in shining armour. Only this one strolls around the place in a towel, has a distracting dream and can cook. Lucas is in New York until his visa runs out – he wants to explore the place, make memories, and find a way not to go home. He is recovering from an injury that no one knows about. He feels like he has no career and doesn’t want to deal with the questions that are going to be asked when he gets home. So, when Lucas meets Rosie and learns more about her, he offers to let Rosie stay with him, until she can find affordable housing. Then he proposes an outrageous experiment to help with Rosie’s writer’s block. He will take her on a series of experiments dates that are meant to jump start her romantic inspiration. Both have nothing to lose. Rosie is certain she’s got her online crush under control and Lucas’s time in New York has an expiration date. This book is a new adult contemporary romance.

Okay, I love this book, I want a Lucas. Can I please have one? It was everything I love – slow burn, fake dating, don’t hurt her or die, both fancying each other without telling each other, multiple POVs. I just loved it. I think the storyline was amazing and kept you hooked, the character development was strong and brilliant. The chemistry between Lucas and Rosie was immense and tense and I just wanted more. This book could have carried on with both growing old, having children, having Lucas be successful and Rosie be successful – anything, I would have read it. I was thinking about this book all the time – in work, at home, with friends – I just didn’t want to end but wanted it to end so I could read it again.

I am already waiting for Elena’s next book, and I cannot wait.
