I can't wait to read this with my younger sisters. Jada Jones is such a great character to teach kids important lessons with. Rock Star is about Jada's adjustment to her best friend, Mari, moves away. It's a great tale about making new friends, being passionate about interests and giving others second chances.

Jada is exactly the kind of character I need in early chapter books for my elementary students! She's relatable, smart, and sends a positive message. Bonus points for having a black girl on the cover that many of my students will see themselves in. I will definitely be ordering the start of the series for my library, with the hope of more to come!

This a great friendship themed chapter book for early elementary school! Jada is very upset that her best friend has moved across the country. She is trying to keep a good attitude about it, but it is really hard. When she starts becoming friendly with Lena at school, Lena's best friend Simone shuts Jada out. In the midst of all this is Jada's love of rock collecting and a new science unit that studies rocks. Although Jada is in fourth grade, she and her friends feel younger to me. Recommended for grades 1 and up.

I really enjoyed this story about our fourth-grade friend Jada.

Even though she was having a hard day, besties moving away is the worst for sure, Jada gives it her all to have a great day. She's trying to make new friends, navigating standing up for herself, working on a group project AND trying new things...

The author did a great job with sometimes tough subjects. I'll keep this in my pocket to recommend to all kids, not just the ones that like rocks.

Friendship dynamics and a love of rock-hounding characterize this story. 4th grader Jada's best friend has moved away, and she's trying to negotiate her new school year and feeling a little lonely on the sidelines at recess. I love that she eventually wins over a potential enemy with kindness, but also sticks up for the things she loves and knows a lot about. Strong characters, strong story and good illustrations.

Cute, diverse, STEM-themed, with friendship lessons to boot? This is a transitional reader that checks all the major boxes.

Loved this early reader about friendship and looking past the surface to find what makes someone who they are. This series is lots of fun with great lessons for our youngest readers who are navigating the world of school more and more independently. The illustrations are beautiful and I really like the singular hue.
Looking forward to many more of Jada’s adventures from this dynamic duo!
