This is such a sweet and charming book; it definitely gets a little sad but there’s wonderful places to contemplate the use of the English language and the strength of our words.

Was reading for a book club which fell apart. Not my kind of book so I stopped reading. Was well-written, I just didn't get sucked in.

This is a tough one, as I struggled with it a lot more than expected. It was hard to like most of the characters, I think because they largely didn’t really change or grow over the course of the book. Esme especially. And she was just so passive, even when she was being active. Things always just happened to her all the time…it was frustrating. Then the story would take these huge emotional turns and offer no solace. A weird read.
