Another action packed book with banter for days. I enjoyed this book but there were definitely moments that took me out of it mainly the food shaming and weight comments.

I loved Sloane’s dream of opening a body positive, safe space for young girls. I can also 100% relate to all the experiences and feeling she had growing up as a fat person but the constant comments about the “unhealthy” food ruined those great moments for me. The only time food was mentioned in this book it was immediately categorized as “healthy” or “unhealthy” not only can that be triggering for people with eating disorders it’s just unnecessary. It’s a 300 page mafia romance let’s spend that word count on something else.

Declan’s pro-life hypocrisy was also a big side-eye. I appreciate that Sloane immediately calls him out on it but when you literally spend the book beheading people for doing the same job you do- criminally offensive side eye.

This book is really good. The second book of the series. Follow up about the story from Nat’s bsf, Sloane. She gets kidnapped by an ML, Declan, bcz of a death of a Irish mafia mob.
There were many times that I couldn’t stop smiling bcz Sloane is hilarious and her comebacks are spot one. She loves getting on Declan’s nerves ( but he does get turned on by it; but also think of her as a weird woman who doesn’t cry, scream or even scared of being kidnapped.)

I mean what could be more awful and annoying than a loud chatty, talk-back person and a strong headed woman.  A few minutes within her presence is all it takes for the most hazardous men to turn into her allies.
The consistent chat, smart talks, diverting and charming communication between Declan and Sloan, are the quintessence in this book. The erotic and sexual tension and intensity between them is dripping out of this book.

She's tough and nothing seem to faze her. Relatively few individuals would accept being grabbed, and that just disturbs Declan. In any case, he sees through her backtalk. This man was swooning internally.

You own me, sloane. Every corner of
my worthless black soul. Every piece
of my corrupt black heart. You own it
all, and you always will. I'm your slave,
not the other way around. Never
forget it."

But those feelings are strongly reciprocated:

“he kisses me, and in his lips I taste
forever.”

Their feelings, moments and especially the smut:🔥.

We also get to see a crossover of the characters from Ruthless Creatures : Kage and Nat.

This book does lead to a darker turn, especially when we see the childhood traumas both Solane and Declan had been through.

"Tell me what you're thinking, baby.
"I'm thinking we're a couple of lunatics."
That makes him chuckle. "Aye. But my
crazy matches your crazy. That's why
it works."
