Cute, fun. Great artwork. Felt like an old.Halloween Disney channel movie in the best way. I could picture this in my head as if it were made like the classic Halloweentown. Perfectly fun and enjoyable halloween read.

First and foremost, I really love the art style in the graphic novel. The colours were a delight and there’s a pleasantness about the way each character is drawn. There’s a great amount of diversity from race and different abilities (abled and people using assistive devices). Big plus there!

The story itself was very basic but just a whole ton of fun. It isn’t supposed to be serious and it’s fun natured tone mixed in with some high-school drama was a delight to read.

The Insta love was a little fast for me, not too believable and even the conflict just felt like it lacked any depth but going back to my previous paragraph, I think it’s just meant to be light and easy. The characters do have a bit of depth to them with each dealing with their own issues and backgrounds, which you can see are either handled by their family or because of their family.

All in all, a cute sapphic light read, that gives me elevated Scooby gang vibes!

Hollow is an adorably cute and seasonal spooky new tale in the anthology of Sleepy Hollow re-imaginings/retellings. It’s like a modernized sequel with the long descendants of the original characters. Family friendly fun. The first third while introductions are made I found it to be not so enticing, monotonous. It picks up and is well paced til the end. Especially with the sincere Headless Horseman being so charming. Our leads chemistry is engaging and also sweet. Lots of “Awww”

I received an arc of the Hollow from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review via netgalley. Thank you to BOOM Studios! and Netgalley.

I saw this graphic novel pop up yesterday on Netgalley and was very interested in it. I grabbed it and binge read it in one sitting. The story was adorable, the characters had great development, and the art style was amazing.

I am very picky what art styles I like in graphic novels and this was perfect for me, it was the right mix of realistic and cartoonish. I felt like the art style also fit the story perfectly and helped make it what it is.

The Hollow is based around Sleepy Hollow, it’s set in Sleepy Hollow, where everyone believes that it’s a true story and they celebrate it all year round especially during halloween. Izzy Crane just moved to Sleepy Hollow and doesn’t believe that the story could possibly be true until she falls into the orbit of town royalty, Vicky Van Tassel and becomes friends with Croc Byun. When they uncover a secret about the Van Tassel family, they must team up to try and save Vicky’s life.

The representation in this book was amazing and very subtle, it wasn’t made to be a big deal which I can appreciate when it isn’t a focus of the story. The friendship development was very realistic and I really related to becoming quick friends after moving to a new school. I also loved the relationship between Vicky and Izzy, it was so cute to read about.

I highly recommend this as a cute halloween graphic novel with friendship, magic, and diversity.
