I’m obsessed with this series but this one wasn’t my favorite. It somehow felt rushed while simultaneously barely moving the story forward.

But I’m also in my 30s impatiently waiting for the rest of this young adult series, because I can’t get enough.

I’m just so bummed I have to wait another year for more. I definitely recommend reading the spin-offs (0.5 and 1.5) if you haven’t yet!

I’ve read the 1st two book in the hopes that it’s gets better. I DNF book 3. I really tried. I found it drug on a lot. The plot was somehow slower but more exciting than the first two. But I just couldn’t get into it. I do like how the MC character was developing. But there was no spice and I honestly found it pretty bland.

Twists and turns, steamy romance, dragons and magical showdowns! This was a satisfying, pulse-pounding read. I couldn’t put it down!

It is feeling very predictable and rushes way too quickly through some bits, leaving for some really
anticlimactic resolutions. There are also some super
convenient mechanics in the magic system...

I appreciate the detail in the magic though, as well as the nuanced conflict and actual consequences for their actions. I've been missing that in a lot of books lately.

Also if Laurie Forest says "the frets of a violin" one more time I might spontaneously combust.

These books are truly addicting. Though I do not think this one was written as well or was as stand-alone as the prior 2.
