First off... I do have a bit of an issue with steampunk and would probably not have read this if it weren't for a challenge.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It was well written and the story was well executed within the few pages. I still have my issues, but this certainly proved that I can put them aside enough to enjoy the story.

Steampunk, set in the 19th century, morally gray mc who's a spy, m/m AND the love interest is a priest????? This was literally made for me

Good but much too short - just getting interesting when it stopped.

I was delighted by so much in Clockwork Monk. I have been disappointed by steampunk books I've read in the past. In the author's notes, Liv explains that she isn't really a steampunk author. Whatever she is, I liked the book.

Thomas, Sister Cecelia, and Father Stephen had some lively adventures. I liked the female president, taking office after her not-so-competent husband. Gesualdo and the references to renaissance music were fun.

It's a fun little story that is obviously just the beginning of something bigger, but the voice is engaging and the character interesting. If I'm honest, I wasn't particularly won over by the mystery, but the world and budding romance (mostly lust at this point) was enough.
