SpoilerWow. That one hurt a bit. Why did Yassen have to die? He was so good. He was such an interesting character and then he had to get shot. I'm glad that book exists later on in the series entirely dedicated to him. But honestly, he didn't have to die.

Irritatingly less than it could have been but the first half has a genuine darkness about it. The second half is more of the James Bond jnr antics of the first three books. Hopefully this is the last we'll see of the unforgivably named Sabina Pleasure and her "bikini too small to have its own pattern." My nine-year reads these books, for heavens sake! Mind you, poor Sabina had had zero effect on the curiously inert Alex whose inner life remains much closer to that of my nine-year old than any 14 year old I've ever met...
