Definitely does not have the magic of the original shifter squad. Story did not go anywhere, Jax is still not back with team it’s been 3rd book with him out of picture. No inroad on removing witch marks from Alex actual zero progress here. Looks like next book is Syd’s book so maybe author is done with Alex and Jax storyline. But mostly felt like a filler book.
Unfortunately the more I read of this series the more I start to dislike the Original shifter squad, I have a hard time with Lexi and Reece meddling in Alex and Jax relationship, you would think that Lexi and Reece would be thrilled that their daughter is happy with a mate and to not meddle like was done to them.
Other issue was last book where Lexi stated that she would love for Alex to communicate with her and that she would help her with anything. But when Alex reaches out to her about the issue with Heath, Lexi just tells her to grow up, really!! This is the daughter that has been missing for 18 years and you are trying to establish a relationship with her and you brush her off when she reaches out to you and you tell her to grow up. Maybe Alex is better off without them as parents. The vibe I am getting is that Lexi and Reece are trying to force a specific mate on Alex, even to the point they condone Rape by an Alpha that they choose to put her with. So far not one Alpha that she has been introduced to has any respect for her. Only one to respect her has been Jax.
I will not blindly preorder like I have done in past.
